Topi Lehtipuu enjoys a reputation as one of Finland’s most highly individual artists. In addition to a career as a tenor of international renown, Topi also enjoys a career as artistic consultant and curator. He was the CEO and the artistic director of Helsinki Festival from 2015 to 2018, with its multidisciplinary programme from visual arts and open city events to theatre and various genres of music for its 230.000 spectators. He was also the artistic director of Turku Music Festival from 2010 to 2015, as well as of Joroinen Music Days, a chamber music festival in eastern Finland. He has had several board memberships including of the Helsinki city's marketing company Helsinki Marketing Ltd in 2016-2018 as well as the Mustakallio Foundation (2018 - ). He has advised various art organisations including Sibelius Academy and festivals under Bangkok city.
As a singer, Topi has appeared in concert halls and opera houses throughout the world. An extremely versatile artist and a highly-skilled stage performer, he is renowned equally for repertoire ranging from early music, through Bach, Mozart and classical composers, to contemporary creations enjoying close relationships with the world's leading conductors and directors including Sir Simon Rattle, William Kentridge, Peter Sellars and Alex Ollé / Fura Dels Baus. He features in numerous audio and video recordings and has twice been nominated for a Grammy.
Ivan Ludlow has long combined his performance career, during which he has appeared in leading roles throughout the world in prestigious opera and concert venues working with directors such as Peter Sellars, Christoph Marthaler, Krzysztof Warlikowski in repertoire stretching from early Baroque to contemporary works, with one as artistic director (Opera Faber Festival, Portugal) and project producer. He is featured on numerous award winning audio and video recordings.
Particularly interested in contemporary music and new artistic forms he has been involved both as performer and producer in multiple world premieres (Opera de Paris, Zurich Opera, Salzburg Festival...) and radical reworking of classical works.
He is currently directing an Artist Residency in Singapore and developing a Youth Orchestra Programme in Abu Dhabi.
Alongside this activist consultant work he is one of the founders of a film production company, New Studios, which has set out to explore ways of using performing arts in feature film and drama series as well as developing a portfolio of arts centred documentaries.
